The story of its founder, my friend and maker or breaker: Hannah
This is pretty much of one of the only photos of Hannah and me together #notsurewhy.
New Year’s Eve
We started a lovely tradition a few years ago when her youngest daughter was still a toddler and we both didn’t feel like going somewhere to celebrate the new year.
Since then on every year on New Year’s Eve Hannah spends all day in the kitchen and always serves a 5-course menu. We never manage to eat all five courses before midnight because we chat about new and old projects, we eat, we drink, we celebrate our friendship and always just have such a good time.
That way, one of the first things we always do a few minutes into the new year: We eat a great desert. What a sweet start.
No surprise Hannah is an excellent chef #ottolenghilover and besides her talent to put a creative, tasty and always just perfect menu together (not too much, not too less, not too healthy, not to heavy, not too special, always yummy), it is her passion for cooking, food and everything that comes with it, e.g. grocery shopping for good, organic ingredients as well as patience and timing, which makes the menu as well as the whole night so special and one-of-kind every year.
She is definitely a “maker or breaker” and she always goes the extra mile if she decides to do something. She has three daughters, a step-son, a cat and a 200% working husband who runs the family-business he grew up with.
When she needs a break from the daily chaos, she loves to run. Also, she discovered strength training for herself as well over the last years to burn any extra energy she has left.
The daily chaos she handles with care, passion, patience, ambition, always with a goal in mind, lots of love and mindfulness and last but not least with always in style.
Her taste is absolute amazing and besides the fact that she is always open for the latest trend, she has an eye for good and beautiful things, sometimes Nordic inspired, simple, minimalism, special and eclectic, but also very practical, sustainable, lovely and pretty.
After years of debating, hesitating, planning, dreaming and finding ways to make it happen, she realized her dream last year (and full-filled a wish of many of her friends) and launched her first online-concept store to be able to share her taste, style and her favorite products with all of us:
You can find everything from a newborn-gift, to a re-usable coffee cup in super trendy colors, some exclusive shoe leather polish, a Moroccan beach towel as well as the perfect gift-wrapping paper in her store. They have it all. It’s a store from a family to families.
Besides the fact that I love the collection and that I always have to pace myself not to spend too much money while checking out new products or looking for a gift, I just admire her for all the work she has done to bring the store to live. Again, she went the extra mile to ensure that the customer’s expectations will be exceeded and to provide the easiest way possible to shop.
Just from being friends with her, I learned and realized over and over again, how competitive the online business has become and how difficult it is for small business to survive (online and brick & mortar). You have to know so many searching tipps and tricks #SEO #CODE and having an online business is way more than just simple retail (as you some people might think). She and her family did it mostly themselves and they still do (website back-end, storage, shipping, book-keeping, photo-shots, product testing, shopping, etc).
That’s why hannahey is a family project, where her girls help out with social media and modeling, her husband is Hannah’s partner in crime and also travels with her to all the trade shows where they often find the latest and greatest stuff and they all help to make it work. It’s nice to see that they are real people, passion and hard work behind this website and that they do much more than just boxing products and shipping them out to. Also, they are convinced of every product they sell, and they can tell a story about every product that made it to their store.
All that said, I know that everybody is looking for the best deal these days and that sometimes we need things the next day. Me, too.
The beauty of hannahey.com is that they make of all the above (and even more) possible:
- Everything you see online is available and ready to be shipped out.
- If you need things faster than 1-3 days (which is their standard), just contact them and they will find a solution for you.
- The deals on heysale are unbeatable!!
- Although it’s an online shop, you can always call, email, text if you have any questions
- Their normal packing already looks like it is a gift ( so pretty) and you if you have special shipment & packaging requirements, just let them know.
- They recycle boxes! Yay!
- They send you a return label and their return policy is very accommodating. If you don’t like it, no problem at all. Just ship it back!!
- They have the stuff you can’t find on amazon!
