BE ACTIV – MY 2019 UPDATE AND YOUR HELP !

  1. Listen to your heart.
  2. Trust the timing of your life.
  3. You make it or you break it.
  4. If you need to make a decision re: 3. – go back to 1.

This process pretty much describes my start-up experience with be active the best.

If you like to know more about www.beactivpdx and how it all started, please read these two blog posts.

To be honest, I debated almost all year 2018 on what to do with my first ever self-owned business be activ.

Despite what I know is right and what I share in my book, I was hoping that a solution would come from somewhere.

But as we all know that hardly ever happens and there only certain things that you can sit out.

When it comes to crucial business decisions, it is definitely the wrong action to just sit things out and I know that. I tell people that. I can coach that, and I motivate clients all the time not to do that.

As easy it is to know and to tell others what is right or wrong, it is hard to listen to that when it comes to yourself and it is extremely difficult to apply your knowledge to your own actions.

All that said, it was in Spring 2018 when I was lucky to get awarded with a scholarship for @tieoregon XL Entrepreneur Bootcamp. This program is a 10-week long class where you start from creating a lean canvas to putting a pitch deck for potential investor’s together. It’s a really good class. My goal was to find out where I wanted to take BE ACTIV as well as what I would have to do to reach my goal.

I learned so many skills and new business tools by taking this class and it was very re-freshing to learn and study again as I hadn’t done that in many years.

My biggest learning and as well as my biggest take away of the class was that I learned something super important about myself and my future career: The difference between “being an entrepreneur” and “having entrepreneurial spirit”.

Based on the fact that I had started a business in the US, that I was in charge of a team, that there was a lot of financial pressure as well as all kinds of responsibilities I had to full fill, I always assumed I would be an entrepreneur and maybe one day I would have my own successful business.

This class told me different. I learned that I have a lot (like really A LOT) of entrepreneurial spirit and that I can empathize with company owners, bosses and everybody who runs their own little business as well as I can think like an entrepreneur. But, in the end of the day I like my pay checks, I do better if I have a boss that I can serve and help and somebody that leads and motivates me. Also, I work best, when I can decide to give 200% instead of an environment where I have to work 200% because I am the boss.

After I realized that important fact about myself, my next steps where pretty much clear: I have to either partner with somebody around my business or I have to get rid of it. I simply can’t do it on my own.

This is what I told people after the class was over. I felt very relieved and accomplished.

I tried to find somebody who would do it with me as well as I shared from time to time that I need to sell BE ACTIV, but I clearly did not invest enough time to take actions. As stupid as it sounds, I was so happy that I found out what I want and what makes me happy which was clearly the biggest milestone. But at the same time, it was only the first step.

The weeks passed by, I got distracted by other things and before you know it was December.

Another 6 months had passed, and I hadn’t taken any other action neither somebody came to me being interested in the business at all. I am clearly not done yet and I finally want to take action to close this chapter.

So, here is to a new year, new opportunities and make it and break it decision again.

I am excited to let you know that BE ACTIV is officially up for sale.

It is important to say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the business, the idea did not fail. We just never 100% tried it, run it and got out there.

That said, I truly hope that we will find somebody who will do so, and I am sure it will be successful.

Also, I will be 100% supportive in terms of training, coaching and equipping the brand with everything that I can do to make it successful (only if this is wanted or needed).

If you are interested in learning more about my selling conditions and the brand assets, please email or text me.

Also – please share, share, share…….!

Xo,

Maika
