It brings me a lot of joy to build new connections, to find solutions and to help people out with all kinds of things.
I always try to be in the position to answer the question above with a “YES” or at least try to direct people to another person who might be able to bring them a little bit closer to what they are looking for.
That’s also one of the reasons why we established the #greatpeople column on my blog.
Besides the fact that I am so grateful to be surrounded by so many great people I believe in the power of passionate people, a huge network of all kinds of amazing human beings and talents as well as personal recommendations.
Of course you can google it, there are great Facebook groups for almost everything you could need or be interested in and on top of it there is linked in as well as other platforms to build every connection you can think of. Absolutely true and I am using these sources as well.
Nonetheless and please feel free to call me old-school, but I still think that a personal recommendation provided by people you trust is easy and most of the time really helpful.
I was so lucky to get introduced to so many amazing, nice and talented people when I moved to Portland almost 5 years ago. That’s what I like to give forward to all the people who live in this city or start living here every day and help them building their network and their community.
Over the last couple weeks I could already build a few new connections with the help of the blog and the fact that I have featured #greatpeople on www.mjvonline.com. Yay!
Surely I will keep on doing that and I also I would love for this to be a two-way street.
Please feel free to reach out if you like to be featured, if you know somebody that should be featured and even more if you are looking for help, special talent or some recommendations. Why not just try to ask?
Having that said – here we go with my first shout out FOR #greatpeople today:
You are a young, old, becoming, experienced author living in Portland or somewhere else? You have already published a book or are about to publish one? You are a writer? You are a blogger? You work for a publisher? You are an editor? Or you know somebody who works in this industry?
Let’s connect or please connect me with the person you know! I am about to become part of this industry and network (which is totally new to me) and the more #greatpeople I can get to know, the more inspiration I can find and the more tips I can get, the better it is.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
Cheers, Maika
