LET’S DO WHAT WE LOVE AND DO A LOT OF IT.

March 16, 2017 by Maika Janat-Vennemann Leave a Comment

Hanging out in Hermosa beach these days made me think that this week’s #greatpeople post should  be about two absolute kick-ass ladies I got to spent an unforgettable night with at a local spot in this little beach town.

Just in case you ever happen to be in Hermosa Beach check out ABIGAILE. They serve inspiring local-grown food, have great in- and outdoor seating and are just an amazing mixture between a brewery, casual restaurant, sports bar and just a nice local gathering place. That’s where we got to enjoy a great dinner back then.

Besides that it was also the pre-opening night of another great local spot called HOOK & PLOW when the three of us happened to be in town and since Katie knew the owners we could kindly volunteer as the champagne testers that night. What else. We had a blast ( and a hang over the next day).

Great places, a lot of fun, amazing taste, goal getters and always up for a glass of bumbles. This is probably what describes Katie and Brit best. rosebeangirlspolaroid

Living life to the fullest already they decided to quit their jobs, put their thoughts together and founded RoseBean Events & Design.

Their backgrounds in business and interior design helped them a ton, but even more it is their passion for what they do combined with their hard working attitude and incredible love for details what makes them outstanding and ultimately pretty successful as a brand.

Having travelled the world and putting events up all over the place in the last 14 years I never came a across a company that does what RoseBean’s portfolio includes.

They are a mixture of interior designers, furniture rentals, merchandiser and prop stylists.

They curate spaces. Even you just order a seating arrangement for your ten people the cool design furniture will also be set-up including all kinds of accessories like books, flowers, light fixtures, pillows, throws or anything other prop fitting the style. Never to less and never too much – always just right and just beautiful. rosebeanpopupstore

One of the biggest compliments they get all the time is people asking them to stage their private homes since they love their corporate set-ups so much.

Although the company has grown a lot, moved warehouses and the team has been extremely busy since they started in 2011, Katie and Brit always stayed hands-on, super authentic, always honest and just so re-freshing real.

Meanwhile they also have become amazing mums. They kids are #bornandraisedrosebean as they use to say but nonetheless Katie and Brit couldn’t be more energetic, innovative and up to date on the latest and greatest. They got it all. rosebean_rosecollage

They are constantly adjusting, overthinking, re-eventing and increasing their services based on the requests they are getting. Being driven by creativity, intuition and fun they take on what they can imagine and realistically execute, always trying to keep a healthy work-life balance for themselves and their employees to make sure they never loose their power and inspiration to do what they love.

Due to their L.A. connections, the fact that they both worked and lived in NYC for a while as well as their love for traveling they are way more than a local Portland shop and are capable to set-up spaces all over the U.S.rosebean.goldenpattern

Long story short no matter if it is your next leadership meeting, a retailer hospitality, a wedding, a big birthday, your store window or even your whole store, the office lobby or your living room that needs a little temporary upgrade or a major renovation – RoseBean is the definitely your solution and you won’t be disappointed at all.

Katie & Brit – I am honored to call your my friends and to have the chance to get to work with you from time to time. I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being amazing role models for women in biz in general, female entrepreneurs that use their women’s powers per excellence as well as the living example that everything is possible when you believe, work hard and just be you.

Keep it up, stay rad and I look forward to many more bubbles to share with you.

xo, Maika

February is definitely not my favorite month, but February is definitely not my favorite month, but i have to admit that the last four weeks flew by and they weren’t too bad 😂 #mindset.
Fun times, long saturday runs and the first spring vibes made it real nice.
Nonetheless we all are more than ready for warmer weather, park picnics, beach days & some summer outdoor fun.

That’s why I also picked this quote for February.
.
.
And maybe it helped me, too because so far February hasn’t been so bad. We filled it with an impromptu birthday party, superbowl, snowdays and Amy’s phenomal start at daycare #sheistrooperlikehersis.
.
And it also reminds me to always be a little kinder to myself. To say more yes than no, to live in the moment and less by the schedule and alter between a glass of wine and a late night peloton ride. And to embrace a snowday 😃.

And just like that our time in Germany was over a And just like that our time in Germany was over and we found ourselves on the plane back to PDX again!
What looks so pretty from above, wasn’t so sunny on the ground, rather cold.
What looks so peaceful from the sky, felt like a country that is about to loose its patience & energy in the continued lockdown, filled so much anxiousness, sadness & frustration caused by the ongoing pandemic.
.
But as always things look bright on the horizon since people are getting vaccinated & spring will come for sure!
.
All that said we are thankful that we got to see & to spend with our families which isn’t a given in times like these. We can’t wait to be back sometime later this year when things will feel more lighter again!
.
And Hello PDX, here is to 2021 and better times! They will come for sure and till then we’ll enjoy the little things & count our blessings. #itsallgood! #hello2021 #wearyourmask

This is not how I see our America.
It is unbelievable. Or not? Are we surprised? Or wasn’t that to be expected? These were all white people, what if there were black? Are we living in 2021 or somewhere in the middle age? And what about the pandemic?

Always (a little) tired, always (at least) one chi Always (a little) tired, always (at least) one child with us, (almost) always together and outside....sounds like our 2020.
.
.
The kids took all our extra time (due to less work) this year and filled our worries, doubts, insecurities and challenges with their joy, their optimism & simply their lives.
.
.
Thanks to 2020 for making us better parents, for gifting us with all this extra family time, for taking any filters off and being pure - good & bad days included.
.
.
.
And here is to 2021 and hopefully a great mix of the old & new normal: a mix of the home office world & the travel for work luxury, a mix of family adventures & times with good friends, a mix of family pizza parties & parents date nights, a mix of taking care of each other & letting grow, a mix of being together while doing things alone. And mix of celebrating our love & friendship.
.
.
.
Thanks to the love of my life for doing all the things we do to make our life like it is: simply GOOD.
