“You can’t do that YET”, “walk like a queen” or just OLGA.

March 3, 2017 by Maika Janat-Vennemann

I had just moved to PDX and I wanted to stay in shape as well as get a little fitter. #whoelsedoesnotwantthat. The easiest to do so seemed to be the gym chain located super close to my office in Hillsboro.

Done deal. I walked in on a Friday afternoon, made one of this typical introduction appointments #whatareyourfitnessgoals all I expected was a little guided tour through the studio and some cheesy sales talk.

It turns out that this sales talk is well staged and before I know I have also signed up for 10 personal trainer sessions. #prettygooddeal of course.

Top motivated I am back there on Saturday morning where this handsome sales guy introduces me to Olga from Russia who got chosen for me as they thought we would make a good team being from Europe and both being female. What a great conclusion ;-).

“Walk like a queen” she says with a Russian accent while we are approaching the TRX corner.  After a 25min work out she tells me to add some cardio and that she will see me Monday at 6:30a. #forsure.

I have never been sorer after a 25min work out but nevertheless I felt committed to see her the following Monday. Time goes by and as we go, the Monday morning workout turns into a 4-5times a week morning workout and I love it.  I get better, we have fun every time I train and besides all the fitness inspiration we talk about all kinds of things.

I tell everybody that I have this awesome trainer and nobody really believes me because they are doubting the gym chain she works at. “If she would be that good why doesn’t she have her own place, why does she just work there?”.

What can I say – those were the questions Olga and I were discussing as well.

Could she be a personal trainer? Isn’t that market saturated already? How would she manage with two kids in grade school? What would else would it need to be a successful entrepreneur in the fitness industry? Do you have to invent a product?

Every time we saw each other we trained, brainstormed, had more ideas and after a summer spent back home in Moscow Olga told me that she invented her own product: A WHATABAG.

I couldn’t really believe it, but the samples kept arriving and we started using them in our workouts. They were amazing.

For sure this has been the key to finally be brave enough to go out and open her own business.

It’s been 2 years now that smartfit training has been launched. I still love working out there and my Saturday morning workouts with my besties and Olga are holy.

Olga has a lot of corporate and private clients – male and female and I have never heard that a client didn’t like her, couldn’t see any results or was unhappy. Olga is an incredible motivating individual, no work out class is the same, she always comes up with new stuff and she her empathy is amazing. She goes over and beyond for her clients, she is always on time, never sick and she never loses her patience. You can feel how much she likes coaching and how much joy her job brings to her.

If you are looking for a fitness trainer for yourself or your business you can’t go wrong with Olga.

Please feel free to check out her out on facebook or just contact her to schedule a free appointment at her Hillsboro or Portland NW Studio.

You will feel great, you will love her and I hope to see you soon in one of her classes. It’s worth it.

Thanks  Olga for everything you do, you have been amazing and I am thankful for all your inspiration as well as being my role model how to successfully combine a job you love with family, friends and life. You rock.
